Aleksandra Walczak is a renowned physicist and researcher, known for her significant contributions to statistical physics and biological systems. She received her PhD in physics at the University of California, San Diego, where she worked on models of stochastic gene expression. Following a graduate fellowship at KITP, she became a Princeton Center for Theoretical Science Fellow, focusing on applying information theory to signal processing.
Currently, Aleksandra Walczak serves as a CNRS research director at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. Her research interests include collective behavior, fly development, and statistical descriptions of the immune system. Her work bridges the gap between theoretical models and experimental data, providing valuable insights into complex biological processes such as immune response, gene regulation, and evolutionary dynamics.
Aleksandra Walczak has been recognized with numerous awards, including the "Grand Prix Jacques Herbrand de l’Académie des sciences" in 2014, the bronze medal of CNRS in 2015, the American Physical Society Fellowship, the Prix Jean Ricard of the French Physics Society in 2021, and the silver medal of CNRS in 2024. She was also elected to the French National Academy of Sciences in 2024. Her interdisciplinary approach and ability to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible findings have earned her high regard in the scientific community.
Aleksandra will conclude the conference with her lecture.
