How to reach Geneva?

By train

Geneva’s Cornavin railway station is centrally located and offers high-speed connections to Swiss and major European cities:

  • From Zurich: ~2h45
  • From Paris: ~3h15 
  • From Milan: ~4h 
  • From Munich: ~6h30 by train via Zurich


You can use the website Rail Europe to book train journeys to Geneva from France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy or the UK in a single booking on a single website, but with a booking fee of € 6.95.

By road

Geneva is accessible via Switzerland’s efficient motorway network:

  • From Bern (A1): ~1h40
  • From Lyon, France (A40): ~1h45
  • From Milan, Italy (A40): ~3h30

Parking is limited in the city centre, so public transport is recommended.

By air

Geneva Airport (GVA) is an international hub with direct flights to major cities worldwide and serves as an EasyJet hub. Located just km from the city center, it offers frequent train and bus connections. Upon arrival, you can reach the city in:

  • 7 minutes by train (departing every 10–15 minutes)
  • 15–20 minutes by bus or tram
  • 15 minutes by taxi  (⚠️ travelling by train is usually faster and more reliable than taking a taxi)

ECCB 2026 participants can also benefit from discounted fares with Lufthansa Group airlines (Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS). The special rates are valid from one week before to one week after the conference.

Public transport in Geneva

Once in Geneva, the UNIRESO network of trams and buses makes it easy to get around. Visitors staying in hotels and hostels receive a free Geneva Transport Card for unlimited travel within the city.
