This section contains a collection of frequently asked questions to help you navigate the website and prepare for the conference.
📍 General Information
ECCB 2026 will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from Monday 31 August until Friday 4 September 2026. Full venue and travel details are available on the Practical information page.
- The main conference will take place from Monday 31 August to Wednesday 2 September 2026.
- Tutorials & Workshops and the ISCB Student Council will take place on Thursday 3 September 2026.
- Friday 4 September 2026 will be dedicated to the Communities Day.
The conference is organized by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, in collaboration with ISCB.
ECCB is aimed at researchers in bioinformatics, computational biology, life science data science, as well as professionals from industry and healthcare sectors.
Childcare support can be arranged upon request. For the duration of the conference, ECCB 2026 will facilitate on-site childcare by coordinating the presence of a nanny in a designated room within the conference venue.
Participants wishing to use this service are kindly asked to contact the organizing team at least 4 weeks in advance to register their interest.
Please note that the childcare arrangement and any related agreement are made directly between the parent or guardian and the caregiver. Responsibility for the child remains with the parent or guardian at all times. The conference organisers do not assume legal or insurance liability.

The official language of the conference is English, with the exception of the public outreach session, which is in French.
📝 Registration
Registration opens on Tuesday 3 March 2026.
Yes. A discounted early bird rate is available until 31 March 2026.

Some browsers (especially Firefox) may block embedded forms for security reasons.
If the form does not appear, please allow pop-ups/embedded content in "Preferences"

Cancellation requests must be submitted in written form and sent to "info@eccb2026.org" for review and processing, prior to the start of the conference and accompanied by appropriate documentation.
Cancellations are subject to the following regulations:
- Cancellation until 3 August: 50% of the registration fees will be reimbursed.
- Cancellation after 3 August: no registration fee will be reimbursed, unless a medical certificate is provided.
The registration fee includes:
- All lunches
- Coffee breaks
- Welcome apéro on Monday evening (17:15 until 18:30)
- Guided tours (upon registration)
- Yoga classes (upon registration)
💳 Payment & invoicing
Payments can be made securely by credit card via the registration platform. Bank transfers are not available.

🎤 Scientific programme
The programme features:

Access to tutorials and workshops is managed through the conference registration platform and requires an additional fee. Registration is mandatory and capacity is limited. Early booking is strongly recommended.
No. All talks, posters, tutorials, workshops, and social activities will take place on-site.

🌍 Travel & accommodation
Geneva is easily accessible by train from major European cities and via Geneva International Airport.

Yes. Participants are encouraged to prioritize train travel whenever possible.
A list of partner hotels and preferential rates is available on the Accommodation section.
Yes. Switzerland uses Type J electrical sockets. Participants are advised to ensure their laptop is fully charged or to bring an appropriate travel adapter.

🎓 Students & early career researchers
Travel grants may be available for eligible students and early career researchers. Details are provided on the Fellowship page.
A letter of invitation for visa purposes can be requested via the conference website once your registration has been completed, paid, and confirmed:

Yes. The programme includes networking opportunities, career-focused sessions (the Entrepreneurs' stories session and a career workshop organized by SIB People & Culture department), and industry engagement activities (a bingo game).
