📍 General Information

When and where will the conference take place?

ECCB 2026 will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from Monday 31 August until Friday 4 September 2026. Full venue and travel details are available on the Practical information page.

  • The main conference will take place from Monday 31 August to Wednesday 2 September 2026.
  • Tutorials & Workshops and the ISCB Student Council will take place on Thursday 3 September 2026.
  • Friday 4 September 2026 will be dedicated to the Communities Day.
Who is organizing ECCB 2026?

The conference is organized by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, in collaboration with ISCB.

Who should attend?

ECCB is aimed at researchers in bioinformatics, computational biology, life science data science, as well as professionals from industry and healthcare sectors.

When does registration open?

Registration opens on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

Is there an early bird rate?

Yes. A discounted early bird rate is available until 31 March 2026.

What registration categories are available?

I am experiencing issues registering. Who can I contact?

Can I modify my registration?

Yes. You can modify your registration using the credentials created during registration.

Can I cancel my registration?

Cancellation requests must be submitted in written form and sent to "info@eccb2026.org" for review and processing, prior to the start of the conference and accompanied by appropriate documentation.

Cancellations are subject to the following regulations:

  • Cancellation until 3 August: 50% of the registration fees will be reimbursed.
  • Cancellation after 3 August: no registration fee will be reimbursed, unless a medical certificate is provided.

💳 Payment & invoicing

What payment methods are accepted?

Payments can be made securely by credit card via the registration platform. Bank transfers are not available.

What presentation formats are included?

The programme features:

Are tutorials and workshops included in the registration fee?

Access to tutorials and workshops is managed through the conference registration platform and requires an additional fee. Registration is mandatory and capacity is limited. Early booking is strongly recommended.

Will the conference be hybrid?

No. All talks, posters, tutorials, workshops, and social activities will take place on-site.

What if my question is not covered in the FAQ?

🌍 Travel & accommodation

How do I get to Geneva?

Geneva is easily accessible by train from major European cities and via Geneva International Airport.

Does the conference encourage sustainable travel?

Yes. Participants are encouraged to prioritize train travel whenever possible.

Are special hotel rates available?

A list of partner hotels and preferential rates is available on the Accommodation section.

🎓 Students & early career researchers

Are there travel grants available?

Travel grants may be available for eligible students and early career researchers. Details are provided on the Fellowship page.

Will there be career development activities?

Yes. The programme includes networking opportunities, career-focused sessions (the Entrepreneurs' stories session and a career workshop organized by SIB People & Culture department), and industry engagement activities (a bingo game).
