Submission guidelines

ECCB 2026 invites proposals for workshops and tutorials, full manuscripts for proceedings publications, and abstracts for highlight talks and posters in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics.

All submissions must align with one of the five scientific areas of ECCB 2026, listed in the "Scientific areas" section below. The purpose of each submission should be to communicate a scientific result. Please note that advertisement for commercial software packages or products is outside of the scope of the conference. ELIXIR Community members are invited to submit their abstracts for highlight talks under the specific “Highlights from ELIXIR Communities" track.

  1. Genomics, Epigenomics, and Genome Editing
  2. Transcriptomics and Gene Regulation
  3. Proteins and Structural Biology
  4. Systems Biology, Multi-Omics Integration and Modeling
  5. Biodiversity, Sustainability, and Environmental Bioinformatics

Area descriptions & keywords

Submitters should select a primary and secondary area to facilitate the review process. Final assignments will be made by the ECCB 2026 Scientific Committee, taking author preferences into account.

While there is no dedicated “Applications” track, application-oriented contributions are welcome and should be submitted under the area that most closely relates to the work.

Important notes:

  • Proceedings and abstracts must be written and presented in clear and concise English.
  • Each presenting author may submit one contribution per call type:
    • Tutorials & Workshops
    • Proceedings
    • Highlight Talks & Posters
  • Decision notifications will be sent only to the corresponding author(s), using the email address used to sign in to the abstract submission system.
  • All submissions must be made through the EasyChair platform using the link provided on the corresponding call page (Workshops & Tutorials, Proceedings & Highlights, or Posters — see the right-hand column for direct access).
  • Presenting authors must attend the conference in person and are required to register and pay the conference registration fee.

Highlights from ELIXIR Communities

A dedicated “Highlights from ELIXIR Communities” track will be available for ELIXIR Community members wishing to submit highlight talk abstracts. Full submission details will be shared when the call opens in January 2026.


Poster submissions will follow the standard ECCB 2026 Highlight Talks and Posters track, which likewise opens in January.
