We are honoured to welcome Jeremy Farrar, Assistant Director-General for Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Care at the World Health Organization (WHO), as a keynote speaker on the first day of ECCB 2026.
Jeremy previously served as WHO Chief Scientist (2023–2025) and was Director of the Wellcome Trust (2013–2023). He led the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Ho Chi Minh City from 1996 to 2013. Trained in neurology and infectious diseases, he holds a PhD in immunology from the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences, the US National Academies, and the European Molecular Biology Organization. Among his many honours are the Queen’s 2018 New Year knighthood and the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun (2020).
